A folder of files named by the second they were taken is not a memory. Capturat keeps the speed of a
screenshot tool and quietly adds the part that was missing.
One shortcut, three meanings
Drag for an area, point at a title bar for that window, point at the menu bar for the whole screen. Nothing to switch between.
The screen holds still
It is photographed the instant the overlay opens, so an open menu, a tooltip or a hover card is still there while you choose what to keep.

Every capture is read on your Mac, so a word you remember seeing is enough to find the picture it was in.
How it works
Press one shortcut, then point.
Where the pointer is when you press it decides what you get. There are no modes.
Drag anywherefor an area. Nudge the edges afterwards — nothing is
captured until you say so.
Point at a title barto take that window, with its shadow and rounded

Save, copy or cancelfrom the buttons under the selection. Return saves,
⌘C copies without saving anything at all.
A loupe follows the pointermagnifying the pixels under it while you drag
or nudge an edge, so the selection lands exactly where you meant.
The colour under the pointer, liveits hex code sits beside the loupe.
Press P and it is on your clipboard — no separate eyedropper to reach for.

The preview offers, then leaves.
It is already saved. A small panel appears in the corner and disappears on its own. Hover it and it
waits for as long as you like.

It notices what a screenshot contains, and offers the obvious thing.
No chat window, no prompt, no assistant. When there is something worth offering it appears as one
button. When there is not, the app says nothing at all.

A card becomes a contact — written as a vCard that Contacts opens for you to approve.

What do I need to run Capturat?
A Mac running a recent version of macOS — Apple silicon or Intel. Summarising, translation and background removal use Apple Intelligence, so those three need a Mac that supports it. Everything else runs on any supported Mac, and the download is a single app you drag to Applications.
How much does it cost?
The screenshot tool is free forever, with no watermark, no capture limit and no expiry. Pro is $1.99 a month, $9.99 a year, or $29.99 once for a lifetime licence. Everyone gets seven days of Pro free, with no account.
What is the difference between free and Pro?
Free is the whole screenshot tool: every capture mode, the complete editor, frames and gradients, unlimited tags you make yourself, and a library that is never trimmed. Pro is the layer that reads and organises what you kept — search by meaning, automatic tagging and naming, summaries, translation, contacts and addresses as actions, automatic password blurring, and background removal.
Do my screenshots get uploaded anywhere?
No. Text recognition uses Apple's Vision framework, summarising and translation use Apple Intelligence's on-device model, and background removal uses the same on-device segmentation as Preview and Photos. There is no account, no server and no analytics. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you send it somewhere.
Is there a trial, and what happens when it ends?
Seven days of Pro, free, with no account. Cancel before it renews and the app carries on as the free version — every capture you took stays exactly where it is, fully readable and fully editable. Nothing is locked, hidden or watermarked.
What permissions does it need?
Screen recording, which macOS requires of every screenshot tool. Calendar and Reminders are requested only when you first use those actions. Browser automation is optional and used solely to record the page a capture came from.
Can I get my screenshots out again?
They were never locked in. Every capture is an ordinary image file in a folder you can open in Finder, copy anywhere, or keep after deleting the app — on either plan.
How is this different from CleanShot, Shottr or Xnapper?
Those are good capture and annotation tools, and Capturat matches them on the basics for free — including frames and backgrounds, which are usually the paid part elsewhere. What none of them do is remember. Capturat reads every capture on device so you can find it later by what was in it, and suggests where it belongs instead of leaving you a folder of dated files.
Does it work offline?
Entirely. Every feature, including the intelligent ones, runs locally. An internet connection only matters if you follow a link the app found for you.
What if I do not want any of the clever parts?
Turn them off in Settings. Understanding, automatic naming, password blurring, sounds and source tracking each have their own switch, and the app carries on being a fast screenshot tool.
